antiquary market

In front of the "Alexander Nevski" cathedral is an area where it suppose to be an antiquary and art market. Maybe the idea was not so bad, but now it looks more like flea market. I'm not sure if unique, interesting things could be find there, but anyway the place looks rather frowzy.

Do you remember the wrapped monument - here it is! Dedicated to the bulgarian heroes (opalchenzi) from the battles of Shipka pass (russo-turkish war 1877-78). The cech painter Yaroslav Veshin, who mainly worked in Bulgaria about the beginning of 20th century has a picture - "the Samara flag" and this monument is it's "quotation".

It seems to be a showroom for lighting fixtures, but it is not. This is the pride of the developed socialism, the 1981 build National Palace of Culture, more than 25 years in operation as concert, congress and exibition centre. /one of the foyers

One of the old chalets, perfectly scaled and integrated in the pine forest surrounding. I hope it could be rehabilitated soon.

Another "piece" of Rila mointains - the oldest Bulgarian winter resort Borovets. To be honest it looks really unusual without snow, without skiers. The most of the equipmens, hotels and restaurants have a holiday till the next snow.

I'm curious to see the monument ready. It looks not very modern, but maybe this is the idea - out of time, next to the eternity...........
